Our second Derby Day Fundraiser benefiting TESS Research Foundation, held on May 6 in the garden of Celeste McDonnell, was a great success! We are incredibly grateful to our amazing community for another amazing day filled with festive attire, Southern-inspired food and signature mint juleps, sharing stories, and an enthusiastic commitment to improve the lives of children with SLC13A5 Epilepsy and their families. We loved hearing from Matthew, TESS Superhero Meredith’s brother; from Dr. Brenda Porter, one of TESS’ scientific leaders and biggest champions; and learning more about TESS Superhero Ellie’s story, as told by her parents, Erika and Andrew.
Our Derby game, Surprise Box, live auction, and Fund-a-Future paddle raise brought in more than $210,000 and will fund our highest research projects and our family support, education, and awareness programs. We received an outpouring of in-kind support, vendor discounts, and product donations from local businesses – it means so much to have the support of our broader community! Thank you to everyone who played, donated, and supported TESS. You are truly making a difference by funding the science that will change lives!
